FAQ

1. What are DTF (Direct to Film) transfers?

DTF transfers are full COLOUR designs printed onto a special film and applied to garments using a heat press. The process allows for highly detailed artwork, smooth gradients, and vibrant colours without limitations on colour count. DTF transfers work exceptionally well on cotton, polyester, and blended fabrics, making them ideal for T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, uniforms, and custom apparel. Once pressed correctly, the transfer becomes flexible, durable, and comfortable to wear.

2. What are UV DTF transfers and how do they work?

UV DTF transfers are pressure-applied decals designed specifically for hard, smooth surfaces. Unlike traditional vinyl or DTF apparel transfers, UV DTF does not require heat, cutting, or weeding. The design is printed and cured using UV technology, then transferred onto the surface using firm pressure. These transfers provide a raised, glossy, and professional finish that adheres strongly to items like tumblers, mugs, glass, plastic, metal, and phone cases.

3. What is the difference between DTF and UV DTF transfers?

DTF transfers are made for fabric and apparel and require a heat press to apply. UV DTF transfers are made for hard surfaces only and are applied using pressure, not heat. DTF transfers are flexible and washable, while UV DTF transfers are rigid and designed for decorative or promotional items. Choosing the correct transfer type is essential to ensure proper adhesion and durability.

4. What file formats and artwork requirements do you recommend?

For best results, we recommend PNG or PDF files with transparent backgrounds. Artwork should be sized exactly as you want it printed and saved at high resolution (300 DPI preferred). Clean edges, proper spacing, and accurate COLOUR profiles help ensure sharp prints and consistent results. We do not resize, recolour, or edit files unless requested, so artwork should be fully print-ready before upload.

5. Do you offer full COLOUR printing with no limitations?

Yes. Both DTF and UV DTF transfers support full COLOUR printing with no colour limits. This means gradients, photographs, fine details, and complex artwork can be printed without additional charges. What you see in your file is what gets printed, provided the artwork meets resolution and transparency requirements.

6. Do DTF transfers require a heat press, and what are the basics?

Yes. DTF transfers must be applied using a heat press to ensure proper bonding to fabric. Proper temperature, pressure, and pressing time are critical for durability. After pressing, the carrier film is peeled according to the recommended method, and a final press may be applied for best results. Household irons are not recommended, as they do not provide consistent pressure or heat.

7. How are UV DTF transfers applied correctly?

To apply UV DTF transfers, the surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust or oils. The transparent carrier film is peeled, the design is placed onto the surface, and firm, even pressure is applied using a squeegee or similar tool. The carrier film is then slowly peeled away, leaving the design adhered to the surface. No heat, mug press, or curing is required.

8. Are UV DTF transfers dishwasher or microwave safe?

No. UV DTF transfers are not dishwasher or microwave safe. Exposure to high heat and harsh detergents can reduce adhesion and lifespan. For items like tumblers or mugs, gentle hand-washing is recommended to maintain the appearance and durability of the transfer.

9. How durable are your transfers?

DTF transfers are designed to withstand repeated washing and regular wear when applied and cared for correctly. They resist cracking, peeling, and fading while maintaining flexibility. UV DTF transfers offer strong adhesion to hard surfaces and are water-resistant, making them suitable for everyday use items, though proper care is essential for longevity.

10. What is your turnaround time and order process?

Orders are produced after artwork approval and processed as quickly as possible. Production time may vary based on order size, product type, and current volume. Once printed, orders are securely packaged and shipped. Tracking information is provided when available so you can plan production and fulfilment with confidence.
